Hardie writes, "Jerusalem is seen in the sunlight against a clear sky. From the left to right are the Jewish synagogues, the domes of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the domes of the two Mahommedan mosques. Below the slope on the right are the trees of the Garden of Gethsemane. In the foreground, to left, the tents of the artist's encampment."
