Winged Love, in a doorway, with right hand outstretretched, is trying to bar the entry of white-robed Death. A fine mezzotint after the painting by Watts inspired by the early death of his friend, William Schomberg Robert, the 8th Marquis of Lothian (1832-1870), a distinguished Christ Church scholar.
