The bullfight series was one of the artist's early successes, bringing him local and international acclaim.
Hardie writes: "The tired bull faces the matador, who stands with the flag in his left hand and a sword upraised in his right hand, waiting his opportunity for the final thrust. A group of toreros to the right."
