Slight mat line, 1 hinge stain in the lower margin, well outside the image; otherwise fine original condition. A rich impression with drypoint burr printed on antique laid paper. Signed and numbered in ink. $1,250.
The bullfight series was one of the artist's early successes, bringing him local and international acclaim.
Hardie writes: "The picador, on horseback, with his spear held downwards, is on the left. The bull, with head slightly lowered, faces him on the right' while further to the right is a second picador."
