Painter, etcher and illustrator, Joseph Simpson studied at the Glasgow School of Art. During his career, he exhibited atthe Royal Scottish Academy and with the Royal Society of Watercolour Painters. He excelled in etched portraits, figure studies and sporting subjects. His strong diagonal shadings reflected Anders Zorn's technique.
