This was an outdoor sketch on copper from which very few impressions were take: only 12 are known, 9 of which are in museums. Printed with plate tone, printed on antique cream laid paper. Collector's name, address and monogram verso: E.A. Scollin, M.D. Signed in pencil. $325.
In 1893 Short attended the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago as a judge for the prints section. During this trip he began studies related to his three Niagara plates. The above image has been referred to as 'the small Niagara'.
