Buchan is one of the six committee areas and administrative areas of Aberdeenshire Council, Scotland.
Hardie writes, "On the left, a threshing machine at work; in fromt, a girl carrying a basket; a dog's head just showing above the lower edge of the plate. Across the rest of the plate, a low-lying landscape stretching to a distant range of hills lightly indicated."
