Oliver Hall was a painter, lithographer and etcher of landscapes; born at Tulse Hill; studied at the Royal College of Art, 1887-90 and in evening classes at Westminster and Lambeth Schools of Art; made his debut at the Royal Academy in 1890, where he regulary exhibited paintings and original etchings until 1921, elected RA, 1927 and Senior Academician in 1945; held his first solo exhibition at the Dowdeswell Gallery, 1898; also exhibited at the Royal Water-Colour Society, Fine Art Society, Leicester Galleries and abroad in Paris, Munich, Vienna, Chicago and Venice. Travelled extensively in France, Spain and Italy; Lived at Ulverton, Lancashire, where he died in 1957. His work is held in many collections including the Tate Gallery, Royal Academy, Leeds Art Gallery and Salford Museum.
