Peter Halm attended the Polytechnic in Darmstadt, Germany. From 1875 he studied copper engraving with Johann Leonhard Raab at the Munich Academy. From 1883 to 1885 he lived in Berlin, where he, like Max Klinger, participated in the graphic reproduction of old masters for the Royal Museums in Berlin, run by Wilhelm von Bode. In 1900 he became a professor at the Munich Academy and trained mainly graphic artists. In Munich, he took over until the end of 1922, the leadership of the class Raabs at the Academy, from which he retired on January 1, 1923. His complete graphic works and numerous drawings are part of the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung in Munich.
