Signed and annotated 'Great Shadow' in the lower left-hand margin and '14' in the lower centermargin in pencil. Housed in a striking 18 3/4 x 14 3/4 x 3/4-inch black wood frame with gold decorations. McCarron writes, "According to Eugene A. Noble the locale depicted is East Thirty-fourth Street where lewis had a studio at that time." (page 100).
