Instruction. 1940. Lithograph. Fath 41. 10 7/16 x 12 5/16. Edition of 250 for Associated American Artists. Printed on white wove paper. Signed in pencil. $4,250.

Fath quotes Benton, "a painting of this was made in 1940 directly from life. One of my students found the man selling snake medicine in the pool halls of 12th street in downtown K.C. He can get rattle snakes and let them out and ferment in gallon jars and sold the result as an aphrodisiac. He was a preacher and conducted a Sunday school class. This picture shows him telling about the Bible" p. 102.
